Description:

Progesterone suppositories are indicated for progesterone supplementation or replacement as part of an assisted reproductive technology (ART) therapy. The pharmacists commonly prepare Progesterone suppositories in strengths of 100mg and 200mg vaginal suppositories.

How It Works:
Progesterone suppositories are administered vaginally where it is absorbed locally. Progesterone is used during the luteal phase of the cycle if the bodies own natural progesterone is insufficient. Progesterone prepares the uterus to receive a fertilized egg for implantation. Once a fertilized egg is implanted, progesterone acts to maintain the pregnancy.

Potential Side Effects:
Side effects that may occur include: insomnia, somnolence, rash, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, breast tenderness, breakthrough bleeding, headache, bloating.

If you experience an allergic reaction: difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue or face; or hives; seek emergency medical attention immediately. And if at any time you experience bone pain, difficulty urinating, numbness, tingling or weakness in the arms or legs contact your physician immediately.
