Antifungal Preparations

Antifungal preparations are essential in the treatment of fungal eye infections, especially in the immuncompromised population. Many patients with co-morbid disease states, such as diabetes, present with atypical fungal ocular infections. Due to the limited selection of appropriate commercial products it becomes a necessity to have a reliable source for compounded sterile preparations to use in these cases.

All sterile compounding is done within a class 100 hood in a class 10,000 clean room in order to meet or exceed all state and federal requirements.

The Apothecary Shop provides amphoteracin in a topical drop or a sterile intravitreal injection. We also compound fluconazole, voriconazole and clotrimazole in 1% topical solutions. These products are available for overnight delivery.

Mitomycin Syringes

Mitomycin C is an intravenous chemotherapy agent that is FDA approved to treat several types of cancers including breast, stomach and bladder. Recently, some ophthalmologists have been using Mitomycin C off-label to prevent regrowth of pterygium after surgical removal, and to prevent scarring after trabeculectomy.

The Apothecary Shops has pre-filled syringes available in various strengths for in-office procedures. There is no need to put your staff at risk of hazardous material exposure, or hassle with dilution calculations and wasted medication. We mix the correct dose in our certified sterile laboratory and deliver a ready-to-use product directly to your office.

We have Mitomycin pre-filled syringes in 0.02% and 0.04% strengths ready for overnight delivery. Other strengths can be compounded to order.

Preservative Free Steroids for Intravitreal Injection

In order to avoid common side effects and allergies associated with preservatives in commercially available products, The Apothecary Shop offers both triamcinolone and dexamethasone preservative free for intravitreal injection.

Our sterile surgery packs are customized to your practice needs and contain pre-drawn 1mL syringes of the medications and strengths you use on a regular basis. This eliminates the need for reconstitution and medication waste within your operating room setting. We routinely offer Dexamethasone, Vancomycin, Ceftazidine, Mitomycin, Amikacin, and Amphoteracin-B pre-filled syringes in sterile packaging.
